Don’t Wait…Go After Your Dreams
There is a strong personal belief I have that our spiritual team is always sending us messages. Sometimes we hear or see them very clearly, and other times we don’t acknowledge them. With awareness and experience, receiving those messages becomes easier.
There have been two experiences that have happened to me lately. Shortly after someone special I know recently passed away, I received a very clear message: “Don’t waste time.” It came through loud and clear. Then a few days later, while looking through my bookshelf, a book I read over 20 years ago strongly caught my attention. The book was The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. My pendulum confirmed I was being guided to read it again, and I am so glad I restarted it! It is well-timed and fascinating!
This book is a powerful, kick-you-in-the-rear-end explanation of why we drag our feet when it comes to making a positive change or creating something new. The author describes something he calls Resistance which is the inner force that shows up to deter us from anything we try to do that is meaningful. Resistance can look like procrastination, ego, fear, or endless excuses.
Resistance doesn’t just show up when writing or creating some kind of “art”. It appears when we try to build healthier habits, learn something new, start exercising, change jobs, move to a new location, or start a new business. I appreciate those two messages about not wasting time and rereading The War of Art book because they remind us to do what we came here to accomplish. It really hit home for me to make a commitment with writing my own book. No more excuses!
The author’s message is interesting and powerful: the more resistance we feel, the more important the work /goal actually is for ourselves and ends up benefiting others too in the process.
As we move into this new year, maybe it helps to watch for your signs, and when we become aware of resistance in our lives, it may be where our growth is calling us. The message we’re meant to hear is clear—don’t waste time! Trust yourself enough to move toward new success and a deeper level of happiness.
