What do you see in the mirror?

Liking Who You See in the Mirror

Each morning, we go through the ritual of standing in front of the mirror…we brush our teeth, fix our hair, shave or apply makeup, and do some jujing with our outfit. But have you ever stopped, really stopped, to truly see the reflection looking back at you?

That reflection carries a lifetime of experience, wisdom, and growth.  You might have a few extra years looking back at you, but more importantly, they are proof of stories lived, lessons learned, and love shared. Isn’t it time to acknowledge the incredible person you’ve become?

Show Yourself the Love You Deserve

Too often, we overlook the quiet ways we make a difference in the world: a kind word to someone, a meal prepared with love, raising a family, offering a helping hand. These aren’t small things—they are important and everything is important. Self-love isn’t selfish. It’s about honoring the light within you—it's the same spark that fuels compassion, creativity, and connection.

Take a few minutes each day just for you: speak kindly to yourself, meditate, read that book you've been meaning to get to, or simply sit in stillness. The calm and clarity you gain is a gift to both you and the world around you because you feel more peaceful.
.
Recognize Your Spiritual Growth

Think back—have you ever laughed at something today that once caused you stress or heartache? That’s growth.
Have you learned to let go of what doesn’t matter so much? That’s wisdom.
Do you feel more gratitude for the simple things? That’s awareness.

We grow as a person and a soul and don’t even realize it. Pause and give yourself more credit for ways that you have evolved. You’ve come a long way.

Simple Tools to Shift Mindset

Do we love absolutely everything about ourselves all the time? Probably not!  That's normal. Here are a couple of suggestions to shift out of a frustrated mentality and into a better frame of mind.

The Ho’oponopono Prayer

This powerful Hawaiian practice can encourage self-forgiveness or forgiveness of others and support inner peace. The more you say these lines, the sooner you will feel a shift that brings subtle calmness. Repeat these four simple lines slowly multiple times perhaps early in the morning, before you go to sleep or whenever you feel out of balance during the day:

I’m sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.

The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins

Here is a new technique I learned very recently from a book called The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins (Savio Republic Publishing, 2017).  Using Mel’s technique of counting backwards from 5 then choosing to move forward with a positive focus without delay, you can overcome fear or hesitation in any aspect of your life. The wisdom on the pages of her book can help transform a trait that might bother you about yourself. (i.e. procrastination or lack of courage with something). This simple method is quick, effective, and empowering.

Celebrate The You You’ve Created

No matter your age or stage in life, you are a soul in progress—always growing, loving, learning. So next time you look in the mirror, smile and say:
“Hey [insert your name], I’m proud of you, I appreciate you, and I love you.”

Because the truth is, you’ve made a difference—in more ways than you know—and your journey isn’t over yet. Who knows what other great adventures are coming your way....

With love and joy,
Cheryl
